DUI Field Sobriety and Breathalyzer and Urine Tests

Salt Lake City Utah DUI Field Sobriety and Breathalyzer Lawyers

With all of the press that drunk driving and DUIs receive, along with what is effectively a mass roundup of alleged DUI violators every year in the U.S., it is easy to believe that once you are pulled over for DUI, a conviction is inevitable. A night in jail or the seizure of your car can heighten the sense that you are hopelessly caught up in the prosecution process. The only questions left seem to be when you will be sentenced and what your punishment will be.

There are, however, many ways for an experienced attorney to defend your case. We have defended hundreds of people accused of DUI and have achieved numerous full dismissals of charges and countless resolutions to less than the charged DUI.

Skilled at Formulating Winning DUI Defense.

Our attorney team includes a former police officer certified in administering and providing training for the standardized field sobriety tests (SFST). He was also a member of the DUI task force and investigated DWI/DUI violations.

We know just how to attack the evidence against you.

  • Police officers must attend a 16-hour training class on DUI roadside procedures and must be recertified regularly. However, some officers patrol for DUI without receiving any training! We can fight your charges on this basis.
  • You are not required to take the field sobriety tests, which include horizontal eye gaze, walk-in-a-line and stand on one leg tests. They are completely voluntary.
  • We know how to question and request tests for the accuracy and calibration of Breathalyzers, urine tests and blood-test machines. The breath test machines must be calibrated every 40 days, or their finding can be ruled invalid.
  • Police can only detain you for the time needed to investigate the charges that you were pulled over for. If you were pulled over for running a stop sign, for instance, police have limited time to investigate DUI suspicions.

Even if you took a blood alcohol or Breathalyzer test, we can defend your case. We are thorough and aggressive in finding ways to raise questions regarding the procedures used to construct the case against you. We have uncovered police and machinery errors in numerous DUI cases and have surprised dozens of people with the news that their DUI and drunk driving charges were completely dismissed and their record was cleared. We will try to achieve the same results for you based on the facts of your case.
